App preferences
Open Settings → App to change preferences that apply across LLMster. Conversation-specific prompts and integrations live in Chat Settings.
Appearance
Section titled “Appearance”Choose Color Scheme → System, Light, or Dark. System follows the device’s appearance. Primary Color selects the accent used throughout the app, including supported message formatting and controls.
Reading responses
Section titled “Reading responses”- Auto-scroll Responses: enable to follow responses as they grow. When disabled, a new reply starts near the top and streams in place so you can read without following the bottom.
- Stream Reasoning: enable to watch reasoning arrive live. When disabled, a Thinking indicator appears during reasoning and the finished reasoning remains available to expand.
Neither preference changes earlier message content. See Reasoning and context for the separate reasoning-generation control.
Model loading
Section titled “Model loading”Unload Previous Chat Model unloads the previously selected chat model before loading its replacement, while preserving the configured summarizer model. This can reduce simultaneous memory use on the host.
It is different from Unload All Models, which also unloads summarizer and embedding models. See Utilities.
Conversation titles
Section titled “Conversation titles”Title Generation chooses how new chat titles are created:
| Mode | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Default | Uses a shortened version of the first user message. |
| Apple On-Device | Uses Apple’s local Foundation Models when available, falling back to the first message if unavailable. |
| LM Studio Summarizer | Uses the selected Summarizer Model on your server, falling back to the first message if generation cannot complete. |
Select Summarizer Model after choosing LM Studio Summarizer. This model is separate from the model selected for the conversation, and running it uses server resources. You can always rename a conversation yourself.
Notifications and voice
Section titled “Notifications and voice”Local Notifications controls completion alerts, subject to system permission. Dialog Mode TTS and Assistant Voice control spoken replies. See Notifications and Dialog mode.
